This is an hour set aside to look at a home properly. Not to tidy it, or to want a better one, but to notice what is already in it - the people, the comfort, the work already done, the things once hoped for and now simply had - and to write some of that down and keep it somewhere you will find it again.

The abundance in this ritual is the abundance you already have. Nothing in the box brings anything to you, and nothing here claims that anything will arrive. What it does is give you an evening, a set of questions, a bowl and something to write on. Abundance here means love, friendship, opportunity, comfort, creativity, laughter, nourishment and the feeling of having enough. It is not a money ritual, and nothing here is financial advice.

Safety and responsible use

The candles:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Keep away from draughts, curtains and flammable materials.
  • Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Do not move while lit or while wax is hot.
  • Extinguish fully before leaving the room or going to sleep.
  • Follow the candle manufacturer's burn-time and wick instructions.
  • The botanical candles have dried plant matter set into the wax. Keep it out of the melting pool, trim the wick, and never leave one burning unattended.
  • Burn incense only in its holder, on a heat-resistant surface, in a ventilated room, and never leave it unattended. The wooden house holder is wood: it holds the ash, it is not fireproof, and it belongs on a hard surface.
  • The room mist is for the air and for soft furnishings only. Do not spray it towards a face, a flame, food or an animal.
  • The infusion is a food product. Brew it as the pack directs and read the pack for the full ingredient list, caffeine content and allergen information.
  • The bowls are decorative keepsakes rather than tableware. Do not put food in them, do not wash them in a dishwasher, and keep the carved stone bowl away from water and heat entirely — selenite is soft and dissolves slowly in water.
  • The stones, the charms and the token are not toys and are not for children.
  • Keep every item, and all packaging, away from babies, children and pets.
  • Retain the manufacturer’s packaging and instructions.

Follow the original instructions supplied with every item. Do not ingest, inhale, burn, heat, apply to the skin or place any item in food, drink or bathwater unless the manufacturer's packaging expressly confirms that use. Keep candles, small objects, fragranced products and packaging away from children and pets. Never leave a flame unattended. Stop using any product that causes irritation or discomfort.

What this is, and what it is not

This is a candle, an infusion, some incense, a bowl, a set of printed cards, something to write on and a small charm, put together so that one evening in a house has a shape to it. It does not know anything about your life and it does not arrange anything. What it can do is clear an hour, furnish it properly, and leave a bowl of your own handwriting somewhere you will find it in December.
