Any stage can be sat with for a minute or for half an hour, and any of them can be skipped. There is no right answer to any of the seven questions, and no wrong one.

Before you begin
Never leave a candle, the small candles or the incense unattended; keep every flame on a heat-resistant surface, stand the small candles in something that grips them and keep them well apart, lift the crystal pieces out of the candles before the flame reaches them, and burn incense only in a holder in a ventilated room. Light the sage bundle only over a heatproof dish and make sure it is fully out. Bath fizzers, bath dust and soap make a bath slippery; take care getting in and out, and follow each pack. The eye pillow rests on closed eyes: do not use it on broken skin, do not use it if lavender or wheat disagrees with you, and never with a candle burning nearby unattended. The stones, the beads, the pendulum and the wand are small parts and not for children. Herbal teas are food; read the pack. Keep every item, and all packaging, away from babies, children and pets. This is seven coloured stations, a candle, some incense, a tea and a set of questions, put together so that one evening has a clear shape from beginning to end; nothing here treats, prevents or cures anything.
