A celestial Christmas ritual for choosing one guiding star for the year ahead.

Somewhere in the middle of Christmas there is usually half an hour when the house goes quiet. This collection is built for that half hour. It asks for a tealight under a white moon-and-star burner, a warm drink, a look back over the year, one word chosen for the next one, and something small to keep it in mind - a white crystal cluster, a moonstone, a string of gemstone lights, and in the largest edition a star on the table with a light inside it.

Three editions. The same five stages in all of them, and a word you forget about by February is not a failure; it was still the right word.

Before you begin

Never leave a tealight, the burner or the salt holder unattended, keep them away from wrapping paper, cards and anything that can catch, let the burner cool before you move it, and use the fragrance oil only in its dish. Do not bathe by candlelight alone. Bath dust and bath bombs make a bath slippery; take care getting in and out, and check the Silent Night pack for wheat and the tea for almond if anybody has an allergy. The lights are USB powered and for indoors. The apophyllite has sharp points and can chip; it, the sphere, the pendulum, the pendant and the bracelet are not toys and not for children. Keep every item, and all packaging, away from babies, children and pets. This is a tealight, a drink, something to write in and some small beautiful objects, put together so that one evening in December has a shape to it; nothing here treats, prevents or cures anything.
