Safety and responsible use

The lotion and the body butter are skin products: use each one only as its own label directs, and stop if it causes irritation or discomfort. Patch-test if skin is sensitive. Neither is a medicine or a treatment. The tea and the infusion are food: check the ingredients on the packet if anybody has an allergy, and neither is suitable for anybody advised to avoid caffeine without checking the pack first.

The candles:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Keep away from draughts, curtains and flammable materials.
  • Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Do not move while lit or while wax is hot.
  • Extinguish fully before leaving the room or going to sleep.
  • Follow the candle manufacturer's burn-time and wick instructions.
  • Keep paper, cards, ribbon and envelopes away from the flame. This is an evening with both on the same table.
  • The tealights are still candles: use them in proper holders on a heat-resistant surface, never directly on wood or paper.
  • The pendants, bracelets, stones and the box key are not toys and are not for children.
  • Keep every item, and all packaging, away from babies, children and pets.
  • Retain the manufacturer’s packaging and instructions.

Follow the original instructions supplied with every item. Do not ingest, inhale, burn, heat, apply to the skin or place any item in food, drink or bathwater unless the manufacturer's packaging expressly confirms that use. Keep candles, small objects, fragranced products and packaging away from children and pets. Never leave a flame unattended. Stop using any product that causes irritation or discomfort.

What this is, and what it is not

This is a candle, a drink, some printed prompts, some good paper and a few things worth keeping, put together so that one evening has a shape to it. It is a gift, not a service and not a course. It cannot resolve anything, nobody who wrote it is qualified to advise a couple, and it does not pretend otherwise. What it can do is clear an evening, furnish it properly, and give two people a reason to say something they have probably been meaning to say for a while.
