The Sun at Its Height celebrates the year's fullest moment with a day rather than an evening: a bright tea at sunrise, a botanical steam for the face, a bath in lemon, ginger and orange salt, a cotton-bound journal for naming what is flourishing, and at sunset a candle called The Sun, lit as the last of the light goes. The larger editions add a citrine amulet with its bath potion, a glass teapot for the garden table, a golden calcite tower and a box of soap flowers.

Before you begin

Never leave a candle unattended, keep it away from anything that can catch, lift the crystal pieces out of The Sun before the flame reaches them, and prefer LED candles where the story does not require a real flame; woodwick candles crackle and can spit. Take care with the facial steam: hot water, not boiling, a safe distance from the bowl, eyes closed, and not for anybody with sensitive or broken skin on the face. Bath salt, potion, soap and oil make a bath and its surfaces slippery; take care getting in and out, patch-test if your skin is sensitive, and follow each pack; the poppy-seed soap is a scrub and is not for the face. The massage oil is for the body, not the face, and not for the bath water; may chang is a citrus-type oil, so patch-test it. Follow the potion's own directions exactly, do not drink it, and keep the amulet out of the water. The room spray is for the air, not skin or eyes, and not near a flame. The tea contains caffeine and the kiwi contains sulphur dioxide; check the tin if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a known allergy. The soap flowers are soap, not food, and not for small children. The calcite, the amulet and the bracelet are decorative objects, not toys and not for children; do not place the stones in water, drink or food. Keep every item, and all packaging, away from babies, children and pets. This is a candle, a tea, a bath and a journal, put together so that the longest day has a shape to it; nothing here treats, prevents or cures anything.
