How to use your Spell Candle: First, select the candle or combination of candles which represent the things you desire most in your life. Create a space in your home and set out to make a mini shrine to your desires. Arrange your candle with personal items in its light, pictures, jewellery, and gemstones.
Don't light the candle immediately. Let it sit in peace. You will know when the time's right to ignite the flame.
Sit peacefully with your flame and use the time for meditation and reflection. When the candle is spent and the flame burnt down, you can clean the wax residue in hot water and recover the gemstones you will find. Keep these on you to prolong the magic.
For good karma, the glass candle tube should be recycled and reused.

The winter solstice is the year's hinge: the longest night, and then - slowly, reliably - the light comes back. The Returning Light keeps that evening, and the morning after it. A candle called The Sun, a star cut from Himalayan salt with a tealight in it, a cinnamon tea, a journal with a golden sun on the cover for naming what has sustained you, a plain white bath, and in the larger editions a second salt and a soap for the first morning of the light, so that the ritual ends at breakfast rather than at bedtime.

Before you begin
The salt star takes a tealight only; stand it on a heat-resistant surface, never leave it burning unattended, and keep it dry - it is cut from natural salt and will weep in a damp room. Never leave any candle or an incense stick unattended, keep them away from anything that can catch, lift the crystal pieces out of The Sun before the flame reaches them, burn incense only on its plate in a ventilated room, and prefer LED candles where the story does not require a real flame; woodwick candles crackle and can spit. Do not bathe by candlelight alone. Bath salts and soap make a bath slippery; take care getting in and out, patch-test if your skin is sensitive, and follow each pack. The shower steamers go on the shower floor, not in the bath. The tea contains caffeine; prepare it according to its own packaging and check the ingredients if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a known allergy. The quartz point and the bracelet are decorative objects, not toys and not for children; do not place the stone in water, drink or food. Keep every item, and all packaging, away from babies, children and pets. This is a candle, a tea, a journal and a bath, put together so that the longest night has a shape to it; nothing here treats, prevents or cures anything.
